FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How much does admission cost?

Adults $18, children $5, Family (2 adults and accompanying children $40), Concessions $15 (only available to holders of an Age Pension Card which must be shown on request).

The only method of entry is by purchasing a "Fergie" badge. Fergie badge must be worn at all times. NO BADGE, NO Entry.

Badges can be bought at the Entry Gates or at Tourism Southern Highlands - Mittagong (1300 657 559). To purchase your fergie badge please use the "Buy Now" link on this web site.

What if it rains??

On most mornings we are blest with an early fog which rises to reveal the mystical Brigadoon. In fact, we have only had a few occasions in the last ten years when we have had early light rain - the day brightened to pour sunshine on the Highland Gathering.

How do we find Brigadoon?

Are there trains?

Yes Heritage trains normally run to Brigadoon each year.

• Heritage Express, departs Central Station. See www.heritageexpress.com.au for details or phone (02) 9379 1031 for bookings.

• Federal City Express Train departs from Canberra. Bookings on (02) 6284 2790

• CityRail & CountryLink run trains. Phone 131 500 or see website - www.cityrail.com.au

Where does the gathering take place in Bundanoon?

• On the Oval on Erith Street, Check out Bundanoon map.

How far as it from town to oval?

• Approximately 1 kilometre

Is there a Courtesy bus service from the local town?

• Yes, there are several courtesy buses which travel ALL DAY from the village to the oval, they start immediately after the Street Parade ends and go at irregular intervals.

Are Pets allowed?

Dogs are permitted, however the following must be adhered to at all times.

• Dogs must be kept on a Leash and under control of an Adult at all times

• Dogs are NOT permitted near any Food Stalls

• It is the responsibility of the Owner/Carer to ensure that they clean up any mess after the dog and it is disposed of properly.

• Dogs are NOT permitted near or on the Sand Pit in the Children's play area.

• Should owners fail to abide by these regulations they may be asked to leave the grounds.

Is there disabled parking? Where is it? Is it well signposted?

• YES

• It is recommended that you arrive early, as we are unable to reserve parking even for holders of disabled parking tickets and spaces are allocated on a first come basis.

• Confirm the details below with the Bundanoon map.

• Follow the Parking signs (P) through the Village.

• The main entrance to the disabled car park is via the main car park at Jordans Crossing.

• On arrival at Jordans Crossing you will be directed to the disabled car park, should the disabled car park be FULL you will be asked to return to the main parking area once you have debussed your passengers.

• We have personnel available to assist the disabled to get to the grounds.

Are there plenty of seats? Can I bring my own seat?

• Yes there are seats, however seating is limited. Suggest that you bring your own seating or blankets.

Where is a good meeting point at the Oval?

The best meeting point is at "Fergie" which is our logo and is positioned over the cricket nets to the North of the oval.

There are coloured flags around the oval on the perimeter light poles that can also be used as a meeting place they too have "Fergie' on them

Is there a lost property/lost children tent?

• Yes, The Girl Guides have a tent just inside the main entrance to the grounds where all lost children are taken and cared for.

How long does the Street Parade go for? Where will the parade travel from- to?

• Normally around 45 minutes to one hour.

• Parade starts junction Amy & Erith Streets and goes to Oval. See Map of Bundanoon for actual location

How early can I get into the Gathering?

• Gates open from 6.30am

How early do I need to arrive to get a parking spot? Where exactly is the car parking?

• Car park opens from 6.30am.

• Just follow the Parking signs (P) through the village.

• Parking is situated at Jordans Crossing which is directly behind the main oval.

Where do coaches park? Is there allocated space?

• Coaches and buses park on Erith Street directly outside the oval.

• Coaches are permitted to debus their passengers before they park.

Can you buy food at the event?

• Yes, we have over 30 different food stalls on site

• WATER - PLEASE NOTE: The Bundanoon Highland Gathering fully supports the "Bundy on Tap" proposal for stopping the sale of bottled water in Bundanoon, and therefore there will be NO bottled water for sale at the gathering.

• Water Bottles will be available for sale at the Village or the Gathering

• There are FREE water stations in town and facilities at the oval to fill reusable water bottles.

Either bring you own Water bottle or purchase a Bundy on Tap bottle in the Village or a reusable water bottle at the oval. When your bottle is empty, just take it to a Culligan Water station and have it refilled for free!

Can I bring alcohol?

• NO, This is an alcohol free Gathering - no alcohol is sold on site. However the local Bundanoon Club is adjacent to the gathering for the purchase of alcohol which cannot be brought back into the gathering area.

Can I Bring my Caravan?

There are No Official Caravan Parks in Bundanoon, however, the Bundanoon Pony Club has made their grounds in Bundanoon available for Camping and Caravans:

20 acres of relatively flat land to camp; town water, toilets across the road. No fires allowed. $5.00/ night. Just turn up, no need to book.   36 powered sites. POA. Booking essential - phone: Yvonne (02) 4883 4778.

The distance form the pony club grounds to the Brigadoon parking area is approximately 1.5 kms. There is NO organised courtesy bus service from the pony club grounds to the Brigadoon Gathering.

Whom do I see for a media pass?

• Media Passes are obtained from the Publicity Officer in advance.

Where do the Bands play?

• Bands play throughout the day on either side of the oval at irregular intervals, for further information all details are contained in the programme which is sold at the gathering on the day.

Toilets

• There are sufficient Port-a-Loos situated all around the ground.

• Specifically the concrete toilet block is for use by "Ladies Only"

• Disabled toilets are available and are clearly signposted
