SHOPPING HOURS

Shops are normally open from 9.00 to 5.00 Monday to Friday, and 9.00 to 1.00 Saturday. In the major towns (Moss Vale, Bowral, Mittagong) shops of interest to tourists, and some pharmacies, are open 7 days a week. In Berrima, most shops are open 7 days. In most towns and villages there will be cafes and take-away food bars open 7 days. Most restaurants open for both lunch and dinner; some open for dinner only. Many close on Monday evenings. Dining rooms in major hotels and resorts are open 7 days and nights per week. Supermarkets in the major towns (Moss Vale, Bowral, Mittagong) are open 7 days a week from 6 or 7 in the morning to late at night (between 9 and 10). Some open later and close earlier on Sundays. There is a 24 hour convenience store and petrol station at Mittagong (on the road to Bowral).

PETROL

Service Stations keep normal business hours. Larger outlets in Moss Vale, Bowral, and Mittagong open for extended hours, 7 days. 24 hour service stations can be found at Mittagong (Bowral Road), and at Sutton Forest on the Freeway at the Illawarra Highway junction.

BANKING HOURS

There are Banks only in the larger towns: Bowral: Commonwealth Bank, National Australia Bank, St. George Bank, Westpac, Bank of Queensland Mittagong: Commonwealth Bank, National Australia Bank, Moss Vale: Commonwealth Bank, National Australia Bank These are open only Mon-Thu: 9.30 to 4.00 and 9.00 to 5.00 Friday. Closed weekends. Some villages have agencies which open one or two days a week. There are also Building Society and Credit Union branches: Bowral: Berrima District Credit Union, IMB Building Society Mittagong: Berrima District Credit Union Moss Vale: Berrima District Credit Union These are open Mon-Fri 9 to 5. ATMs (automatic teller machines) are located in Berrima, Bowral, Mittagong and Moss Vale. (Not all cards are accepted by all ATMs.) EFTPOS facilities are available in all supermarkets, service stations, liquor stores, hotels and clubs, and many shops in major centres. Most accept major foreign credit cards (but check before you leave home!) Currency Exchange and Traveller's Cheques are normally only negotiable at banks or major resorts, and also at The Southern Highlands Visitor Information Centre at Mittagong (7 days). POST OFFICES

Post Offices can be found at: Berrima - Old Hume Highway (near village square) Bowral - 260 Bong Bong Street (north end of main street) Bundanoon - Station Street (just up from station) Exeter - Village Store (opposite station) Mittagong - 65 Old Hume Highway (100m. north of traffic lights) Moss Vale - Clarence Street (1 block east of main street, near supermarket) Robertson - main street Post Offices are open Mon-Fri 9.00 to 5.00. There are agencies in smaller villages. Stamps can usually be bought also in Newsagencies.
